Speech and Language Pathology Services
Speech / Language pathologists hold either a master's or doctoral degree, Certificate of Clinical Competence of the American Speech / Language Hearing Association and a license to practice in New Hampshire.
The Speech Section offers services Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for both inpatients and outpatients.
The practice of speech / language pathology at DHMC includes:
- Screening, diagnosis, rehabilitation and prevention of speech and language disorders.
- Screening, diagnosis, rehabilitation and prevention of disorders of voice and swallowing.
- Screening, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of cognitive disorders (attention, memory).
- Assessing, selecting and developing augmentative and alternative communication systems and providing training in their use.
- Providing aural rehabilitation and related counseling services to hearing impaired individuals and their families.
- Enhancing speech / language proficiency and communication effectiveness.
- Screening of hearing and other factors for the purpose of speech/language evaluation and/or referral of individuals with other communication disorders.
- Participation in the ICN with feeding and developmental issues.
- Speech / Language Pathology section accepts master level students for clinical observation and affiliation.
