Research Studies

Project ENABLE (Educate, Nurture, Advise, Before Life Ends) is a series of studies that have shaped the development of palliative care services at Norris Cotton Cancer Center and DHMC. The ENABLE I and ENABLE II studies are completed. The ENABLE III study is currently in progress.

The purpose of these studies is to determine if this supportive care intervention program can:

  • Improve quality of life and mood in patients with cancer
  • Reduce symptoms and time in the hospital
  • Determine whether the exact timing of beginning these services will have any effect on quality of care
