March 30, 2012
At a luncheon held at the Sky Meadow Country Club today, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua was the recipient of the Eminence Award for "Large Business of the Year." In addition, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua Medical Director, Dr. Sanders Burstein, was recognized as a nominee for "Business Person of the Year."
The Large Business of the Year Award is presented to a company - 50 employees or more - that contributes to and supports the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce, and is also active within the community, holding a commendable reputation and maintaining good rapport with their employees. Administrative Director Craig Beck accepted this award on behalf of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua. "The recognition by the Chamber is a reflection of the dedication and pride that is displayed throughout our organization, and our commitment to the health of the greater Nashua community," said Beck.
On January 16th, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua opened the doors to its 150,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, ambulatory care center, located at 2300 Southwood Drive off of Exit 8 of the Everett Turnpike in Nashua. The new facility combines the services of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua East, West and Squires Centers, and features a patient-centered and environmentally friendly design, to serve as One Healthy Location to meet patients' needs. In addition to the existing services that have been offered in Nashua in primary and specialty care, patients benefit from extended hours for urgent appointments, on-site endoscopy services, extensive diagnostic testing including lab and radiology services, hematology and oncology services from the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center, and pediatric specialties from CHaD, the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, all under one roof. Also offered are services that cover every aspect of women's healthcare, including obstetrics, gynecology and nurse midwifery; breast health and imaging; and reproductive endocrinology/infertility services. Additional new services include a Center for Shared Decision Making to help patients and families make difficult health care decisions, and an Occupational and Environmental Medicine Clinic to help meet the occupational and environmental health needs of the community workforce.
As part of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock system of care, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua provides patients with access to more coordinated care from a nationally renowned academic medical center, collaborating with specialists from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Additionally, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua has local relationships with other health care providers/agencies in the community, with physicians also serving on the medical staff of
Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital, providing care close to home whenever possible.
The criteria for a business to be nominated in this category include, but is not limited to, at least three years in business; information on the company's record of longevity, innovation, profitability, employee retention, growth, response to adversity and diversity, and contribution to the industry; company reputation; community involvement, both financial and in volunteerism; and record of support to the Chamber. Through the years, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua has been a member of the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce and proud to sponsor many of the Chamber's events and programs. Medical Director, Sanders Burstein, MD, has been an active Board member for a number of years. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua has sponsored the Chamber's Annual Dinner for a number of years as well as the Chamber's radio show "The Chamber Report" - with providers and staff taking to the airwaves to provide information on important health care topics. In early 2012, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua hosted a "Business After Hours," providing a sneak peak of the new facility to Greater Nashua Chamber members.
